When traveling in the Spanish-speaking countries, it's very important to be able to understand directions in Spanish, so that you can find out how to get from place to place. But what happens if you need to give a friend directions? Would you be prepared? In this project you'll practice giving directions to places in Panama City.

Answer:

Bellow are some phrases and different vocab that will assist you in giving directions. To make it more related to your project instead of just saying "Next to the park" you could say, "Next to Camino de Cruces National Park", but in Spanish of course. In other words, find specific locations in Panama city that you can use to fill in basic nouns such as park, restaurant, and beach.

En frente de la plaza :Across from the park

Al lado de la gasolinera : Next to the gas station

Detrás del teatro : Behind the theater

Entre la farmacia y el correo : Between the pharmacy and the post office

En la esquina : On the corner

A dos cuadras : Two blocks (from here)

A diez minutos : Ten minutes (from here)

Es la próxima : It's the next one

Es la primera : It’s the first one

Es la segunda : It’s the second one

Es la tercera : It’s the third one

Dobla a la izquierda or Gira a la izquierda : Turn left

Dobla a la derecha or Gira a la derecha : Turn right

Ve por.. : Take/walk along...

Cruza... : Cross...

Sigue... : Continue / follow...

Sigue derecho : Go straight ahead

For transportation purposes:

Toma... : Take...

... el autobús : ... the bus

... el metro : ... the subway

... el tren : ... the train

... un taxi : ... a taxi
