2x^2+5x+8=0 \\

x=(-5+\vee-√(5^2-2\cdot2\cdot8))/(2\cdot2) \\

x=(-5+\vee-√(25-64))/(4) \\

x=(-5+\vee-√(-39))/(4)\Longrightarrow x\\otin\mathbb{R} \\

x\\otin\mathbb{R}\Longrightarrow x\in\mathbb{C}

So no real solutions for x. But two complex solutions for x.

x_1=\boxed{(-5-39i)/(4)} \\ \\

x_2=\boxed{(-5+39i)/(4)}

Hope this helps.
