sin30° =
(AB)/(AC ) =
(x)/(12)

Multiply both sides by 12

12 × sin30° = x, hence

x = 6

You have to use trigonometry as it is a right angle triangle
Because the hypotenuse(12 cm) is given and you need to find x which is the opposite side you have to use sin
so sin 30 = opposite side/hypotenuse
sin 30 = x/12
12*sin 30 = x
(sin 30 is equal to 1/2)
12*1/2 = x
x = 6
