The sum of all angles is 180 degrees. Which means.

</p><p>2y+y+10+50=180 </p><p>

Now just solve for y.

</p><p>3y+60=180 \\</p><p>3y=120 \\</p><p>y=\boxed{40}</p><p>

The value of y is 40 therefore option B.

Hope this helps.

For this case we have by definition, that the sum of the internal angles of a triangle is 180 degrees. Then, according to the figure we have:

y + 10 + 2y + 50 = 180

We add similar terms:

y + 2y + 10 + 50 = 180\\3y + 60 = 180

We subtract 60 from both sides of the equation:

3y = 180-60\\3y = 120

We divide between 3 on both sides of the equation:

y = \frac {120} {3}\\y = 40

Thus, the value of "y" is 40 degrees.
