a) boys: 14

girls : 16

b) the ways to randomly select a student is n(A) = 30C1 = 30

the ways to choose a girl is n(B) = 16C1 = 16

=> the probability to randomly select a student being a girl is

n(B)/n(A) = 16/30 ≈ 0.5
