The equation for surface area of a box is

a = 2(wl + hl + hw)

So if we substitute the measurements into the equation we get

a = 2(4 * 5 + 3 * 5 + 3 * 4)

and with some calculations, that would equal

a = 2(20 + 15 + 12)

a = 2(47)

a = 94

The total area for the box is 94 inchesĀ². Hope this helps!
