  • If the scalar multiple is greater than 1 then there is a enlargement.
  • and if the scalar multiple is less than 1 but greater than 0 then there is a reduction.

Here we see that each of the sides of the original figure is multiplied by "1.5" to obtain a larger rectangle.

This means that the dilation is a enlargement.

( since the scalar is strictly greater than one )
