A. A school has 700 students. If 2 out of every 5 students are high school students, how many high school students are there at the school?

B. If each highschool student spends 279.50 minutes in a school a day, how many total minutes do the high school students spend in class each day?

Extension: If the average middle schooler spends 10 percent more time in class than the average highschooler, how much time do the middle schoolers spend in class a day?​

There are 280 high schoolers

B The total time high schoolers spend in school is the time 1 student spends in school times the number of students

C The high schoolers spends 279.5 minutes in class

10% = .1

We need to add 10% to this time

279.5 * 10%

279.5 * .1 = 27.95

Add this because they spend 10% more time

279.5 + 27.95 =307.45 minutes
