Answer:

1/2

1/6

2/3

1/12

Explanation:

The probability is the likelihood that an event will happen out of all possible events. For instance, when rolling a die there are 6 numbers that can be rolled.

  • The probability of rolling an odd like 1, 3, or 5 is 3/6 or 1/2. Since odds are 3 of the 6 possible outcomes the probability is 1/2.
  • When a rolling a 5, the probability is 1/6. A 5 occurs once on the dice out of 6 total numbers.
  • The probability of rolling an odd number or a five is the probability of an odd number added to the probability of rolling a 5. 3/6 + 1/6 = 4/6 = 2/3
  • The probability of rolling an odd number AND a five is the probability of an odd number multiplied by the probability of rolling a 5. 3/6 (1/6) = 3/36 = 1/12.
