To find the total area you need to sum up the area of all the faces. The area of a rectangle is base times height, so the base's area is 2×6 square inches, because it is a rectangle. So it is 12.

The second rectangle is 2×4=8 square inches.

The third one is 2×3=6 in²

Now, moving on to the triangles, whose area is base times height divided by 2. So their area is (6×2)/2=6

But there are two of them, so we have to multiply by 2. 6×2=12.

And now let's sum up everything and we get 12+8+6+12=38 square inches.

8 + 6 + 12 + 12 = 38 square inches
