Explanation:

to find the x value you substitute for zero and then you are left with -4x=24. After that you have to divide both sides by -4 and you get the answer x= -6 . Then you plug -6 back into the equation and it looks like -4(-6) - y = 24. you get 24-y=24 , you will then subtract 24 from both sides leaving you with -y=0. After that you divide by -y and get y=0

CHECK:

-4x-y=24 -4(-6)-y=24

-4x-0=24 24-y=24

-4x=24 -y=0

x=-6 y=0
