We faced each other in the Civil War, our own people. In other wars we fought the enemy.

Well, the American Civil War differed about being the first one to use Submarine, ironclad ships, balloons, telegraph, rifles, trains of transportation, and photography. Something to highlight is that the hydrogen-filled balloons were used by the Union Army Balloons Corp as a way to spy on confederate forces, as artillery and to create detailed maps of the battlefield.
