Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

x = 13, z = 88

Discussion:

Because vertical angles are equal

7x + 1 = 9x -25 => subtract 7x from both sides

1 = 9x - 7x - 25 => as 9x -7x = 2x

1 = 2x - 25 => add 25 to both sides

26 = 2x => divide both sides by 2

26/2 = 13 = x

Since a line spans 180 degrees

(7x + 1) + z = 180 => as x = 13 from the above steps

7*13 + 1 + z = 180 => 13*7 = 91

91 + 1 + z = 180 =>

92 + z = 180 =>subtract 92 form both sides

z = 180 -92 = 88

Thank you,

MrB

Answer:

13 =x

z =88

Explanation:

7x+1 is a vertical angle to 9x -25

That means they are equal

7x+1 = 9x-25

Subtract 7x from each side

7x-7x+1 = 9x-7x-25

1 = 2x-25

Add 25 to each side

1+25 =2x-25+25

26 = 2x

Divide by 2

26/2 = 2x/2

13 =x

7x+1 and z are supplementary angles, which means they add to 180

7x+1 +z = 180

We know x

7(13) +1 +z = 180

91 +1 +z = 180

92 +z = 180

Subtract 92 from each side

92-92 +z = 180-92

z =88
