Answer: B. 240

Explanation:

Let x be the number of pages Rafael read,

According to the question,

Number of pages Denise will read =
(3x)/(4)

And, the number of pages Philippe will read =
(x)/(2)

Since, the total umber of pages = 540

\implies x + (3x)/(4)+(x)/(2)=540

\implies (4x)/(4)+(3x)/(4)+(2x)/(4)=540

\implies (4x+3x+2x)/(4)=540

\implies (9x)/(4)=540

\implies 9x = 2160

\implies x = 240

Hence, the number of pages Rafael read = 240 pages.

⇒ Option B is correct.
