Multiple compare and/or contrast transition words/phrases are used in this text. Such words/phrases, for example, are different, contrast(s), far...more, both, nevertheless, alike, and similar. This observation signifies that the pattern of organization of the selection is c. comparison and/or contrast.

Evidence of comparison from text: "Nevertheless, to use chimpanzees as an example, both they and humans have the same muscles and bones, located in almost the same places and working in nearly the same ways."

Evidence of contrast from text: "there are significant contrasts in size and proportion between humans and other primates." and "humans are by far the more intelligent."
