Sunlight is the ultimate source of energy for all life on Earth. However, only organisms that have the organelle in the cell shown below are able to make use of its energy directly. What is this organelle?

Final answer:

Chloroplasts are the organelles responsible for capturing sunlight energy and performing photosynthesis in certain organisms, allowing them to convert solar energy into chemical energy. Animal cells and fungal cells do not have chloroplasts and rely on other organisms for their energy.

Step-by-step explanation:

Chloroplasts are the organelles responsible for capturing sunlight energy and performing photosynthesis in certain organisms. These organelles are found in plant cells and algal cells and allow them to convert solar energy into chemical energy in the form of carbohydrates. Chloroplasts contain the pigment chlorophyll, which absorbs light energy and converts it into chemical energy through a series of chemical reactions. Other organisms, such as animal cells and fungal cells, do not have chloroplasts and rely on other organisms for their energy.

The chloroplast, is only found in plant cells. Chloroplast is where photosynthesis takes places. Light dependent photosynthesis meaning needs sunlight takes place in the thylakoids stacked thylakoids are granum. Light independent processes does not need sunlight and takes place in the stroma. All of these processes takes place within the chloroplast.

PS. chlorophyll is found in chloroplast which is what give plants it color.
