The doubling time of a population of flies is 5 hours. By what factor does the population increase in 24 ​hours? By what factor does the population increase in 3 weeks​?

So the answer is after 24 hours population = 27.86 times

and after 3 weeks population = 2.21×10^30 times

Explanation:

If the population of flies doubles in 5 hours then the series will be an exponential series represented by

New population = Initial population ×
2^{((t)/(5))}

So population after 24 hours
P=P'* 2^{(t)/(5)}=P'*2^{(24)/(5)}


p=p'* 2^(4.8)=p'* 27.86

Now we have to calculate the population of flies after 3 weeks


P=P'* 2^{(t)/(5)}=P'*2^{(24* 7* 3)/(5)}


p=p'* 2^(100.8)=p'* 2.21* 10^(30)
