So CI and IE are equal. That means that CE = two times the size of CI

CE = x + 12

IE = 2x - 6

CE = 2* IE (property of a bisector.

Solution

CE = 2*IE

x + 12 = 2*(2x - 6) Remove the brackets.

x + 12 = 4x - 12 Add 12 to both sides

x + 12 +12 = 4x-12+12 Combine

x + 24 = 4x Subtract x from both sides

x - x + 24 = 4x - x Combine

24 = 3x Divide by 3

24/3 = 3x/3

x = 8
