The area is calculated by finding the area of each shape forming the entire figure.

starting with the rectangle, area=length×width

=14 in× 5 in

=70in²

the area of the bigger semicircle= 1/2πr²

=1/2×3.14×7in×7in

=76.63in²

the area of the smaller semicircle=1/2πr²

=1/2×3.14×2.5in×2.5in

=9.8125 in²

we then add the areas of the the three constituent shapes of the figure.

70in²+76.63in²+9.8125in²=156.44in²
