answer: she got $6.50 back
multiply how many pens she got (30) by the price of each ($1.45) = 43.5
then subtract that number to the amount she gave the cashier ($50) = 6.5

She got back $6.50.
explanation -
30 x 1.45 = 43.5
50 - 43.5 = 6.50
