Demetrius needs `48` hot dogs.

He can buy them in six-packs for `\$2.10` per pack, or eight-packs for `\$3.12` per pack.

What’s the cheapest way for him to buy `48` hot dogs? Explain your reasoning.

Answer:

Cheaper to buy them in six-packs

Explanation:

To answer this problem, we first have to see how much it would cost to but 48 hot dogs with six and eight packs.

First with six-packs:

48/6=8 So he would have to buy 8 packs. Each pack costs 2.10-->8(2.10)= 16.8

Then with eight-packs:

48/8=6 So he would have to buy 6 packs. Each pack costs 3.12

-->6(3.12)=18.72

Which one is less: 16.8 or 18.72? --> 16.8! so the answer would be six-packs.
