How did Gutenberg's printing press contribute to the growth of learning and literacy (especially Bible reading) in Europe?

Gutenberg's invention, the printing press, was a key element in increasing the literacy in Europe because it allowed for books to be published in various styles of printing and, therefore, was now reachable for the common people who couldn't afford hand-printed copies. With this, the reading of the Bible also increased, which led to some changes in the Catholic Church as well.
