Answer:

adult tickets 35 and children's ticket 82

Explanation:

Given: A church luncheon made
\$842. Adult tickets cost
\$10 each and children's tickets cost
\$6 each. The number of children was
12 more than twice the number of Adults.

To Find: how many of each ticket were sold.

Solution:

Let the number of adults be
=\text{a}

Let the number of children be
=\text{c}

cost of adult ticket
=\$10

cost of children ticket
=\$6

Total value of tickets sold
=\$842

Now,

total sale of ticket

=10\text{a}+6\text{c}

as given

\text{c}=2\text{a}+12

putting in equation

842=6(12+2\text{a})+10\text{a}

842=22\text{a}+72

770=22\text{a}

\text{a}=35

now,

\text{c}=2\text{a}+12

\text{c}=2*35+12

\text{c}=82

Hence number of adult tickets are
35 and number of children's ticket are
82.
