The slope is 3

1.) distribute the 3 to both the X and 17 so that your equation looks like this: y-5= 3X-51

2.) add 5 to both sides and you will end up with the equation: y=3X-46

3.) since this is in slope intercept form now (y=mx+b), we can conclude that m(or the slope)= 3

Answer:

The slope is 3 and the y intercept is -46

Explanation:

Y-5=3(X-17)

We need to get this in slope intercept form y= mx+b

Distribute the 3

y-5 =3x-51

Add 5 to each side

y-5+5 =3x-51+5

y = 3x-46

The slope is 3 and the y intercept is -46
