Benjamin threw a rock straight up from a cliff that was 96 ft above the water. If the height of the rock h, in feet, after t seconds is given by the equation

h=-161² +116t+96, how long will it take for the rock to hit the water?

Answer:

8 seconds

Explanation:

When it hits the water h = 0

0 = -16t^2 + 116t + 96 ( I corrected the equation in the question)

solve for 't' using quadratic formula t = 8 s ( and - .75 s <===throw out)
