We need to find the decimal form of
\boldsymbol{\sf{\displaystyle(1)/(2)}}.

But first we need to convert it into a fraction whose

denominator is 10, or 100, or 1,000, etc.

The closest number that's divisible by 2 is 10.

So that's the new denominator of the fraction.

Now we should also multiply the top times the number

that we multiplied the bottom by. See how this works?

\boldsymbol{\sf{\displaystyle(1*5)/(2*5)}}. This yields

\boldsymbol{\sf{\displaystyle(5)/(10)}}. And 5/10 in decimal-form yields

\boldsymbol{\sf{0.5}}.
