There's a very simple way to solve this kind of problem. All we have to do is change the percent to a decimal and multiply it by her current grade.

81 × .15 = 12.15

For our purposes, we'll just round it down to 12. But anyway, raising her grade by 15% would mean raising it by 12 points.

81 + 12 = 93

This would give her an average of 93, not 95. She'd need to raise her grade 18% from 81 to get to her goal.

Hope this helps!

Answer:

No i do not agree. 15% of 81 is 12.15. This is lower than 14, which is the difference between 95 and 81.

Explanation:

If she wants to get 95 as a means of improving her chance of getting the scholarship, and her average for the last marking period was 81 then she must improve her average by the difference between 95 and 81.

This difference is

= 95 - 81

= 14

If she decides to raise her average by 15% then the absolute figure

= 15% × 81

= 12.15

15% of her average score in the last period is not up to 14 as such i do not agree with her.
