The correct answer is Gettysburg.

Prior to the Battle of Gettysburg, Lee's Army of Northern Virginia was on a roll and had the idea that if they took the war to the North, it might test the resolve of the Northern people and force a peace.

Lee lost the battle though and turned tail. The Southern Army never made it above the Mason Dixon Line again
