r, we have to use the formula of the area of the circle:



A_(circle)=\pi r^(2)


Then isolate
r:



r^(2)=(A_(circle))/(\pi)


Applying square root on both sides:



\sqrt{r^(2)}=\sqrt{(A_(circle))/(\pi)}



r=\sqrt{(A_(circle))/(\pi)}


Substituting the known values:



r=\sqrt{(78.5 inch^(2))/(3.14)}
