Reading is an important activity. Practicing the activity of reading has certain benefits such as mental stimulation, stress reduction, vocabulary expansion, memory improvement, focus, and concentration improvement, among many other benefits. These benefits are more likely to be acquired if the action is repeated frequently since the brain is a muscle, it needs to practice constantly. Vocabulary expansion also depends on the type of texts chosen to read; it will not be the same vocabulary acquirement by reading a novel than by reading academic articles, because the style of writing, the context, and the lexicon will be very different.
