What is the inverse of the function f(x) = 2x + 1?

h(x) =1/2x – 1/2
h(x) = 1/2x + 1/2
h(x) = 1/2x – 2

Answer:

y =(1)/(2)x - (1)/(2)

Explanation:

f(x)= 2x + 1

To find inverse , first replace f(x) by y

y = 2x + 1

Replace x with y and y with x

x = 2y + 1

Now we solve for y

x = 2y + 1

subtract 1 on both sides

x - 1 = 2y

now divide both sides by 2

(x-1)/(2) = y

divide each term by 2

y =(1)/(2)x - (1)/(2)
