Replace x and y with the given values, solve the 4 equations in Matrix B:

4(3)+2 = 12+2 = 14

8(1) = 8

7-2(3) = 7-6 = 1

-7(1) +8 = -7+8 = 1

Now using the letter locations from Matrix A solve ad-bc:

14*1 - 8*1 = 14 - 8 = 6

The answer is 6
