To obtain the first quartile and the median, arrange the data in ascending order, that is

2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 7

The median is the middle value of the data, arranged in ascending order

Count in 6 from each end of the data to obtain median = 4, the second last 4 in the group of 4's

The first quartile is then the middle value or the average of the 2 values either side of the middle if there is not an exact value in the middle

first quartile =
(3+3)/(2) = 3
