Tribhuwan Bir Bikram was king of Nepal from Dec 1911 until his death. Born in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, he ascended to the throne at the age of five, upon the death of his Father. King Prithvi Bir Bikram and crowned on Feb 20, 1913 at rhe Nasal Chowk, Hanuman Dhoka Palace in Karhmandu with his Mother acting as regent. At the rime, however the position of monarch was mainly titlur with real power in the country residing in the powerful, conservative Rana Family which supplied the country with it's hereditary prime minister. The Rana period is known for the tyranny, debauchery, economic and religious persecution by the rulers.
