Answer:

Constitution serve as a higher law.

This mean that it laid the foundations for the following laws after its creation. None of the new laws made after the constitution can violate the content of constitution in any way,

For most countries, Constitution has a couple of functions:

- It determine how the government should be arranged/operated. In United States, the constitution dictate how we should separate the government into three branches with proper checks and balances.

- Differentiate the things that can and cannot be done by the government. In United States constitution, we outlined the power of the government through implied (not directly written ) and expressed power (directly written) within the constitution.

- Listed basic human rights that belong to the citizens and cannot be violated by the government in any shape or form.. In US constitution, this is highlighted within the Bill of Voight.
