6. The total age of three siblings; Aku, Afi and

Nortey is 28 years. Aku's age is twice Nortey's
age
whiles Afi's age is four more than
Nortey's age. If they are to share an amount of
$1,400 in the ratio of their ages, find:
(i) the actual age of the children;
(ii) how much each person received?​

Aku's age=2×28=56

Afi's age=4×28=112

Ratio of their ages=28:56:112

Equation

af1 + ak + no = 28

Solution

no+4 + 2no + no = 28

4no + 4 = 28

4n = 28 - 4

4n = 24

no = 24/4

no = 6

af1 = no + 4 = 10

ak = 2*6 = 12

Answer Part (ii)

6x + 10x + 12x = 1400

28x = 1400

x = 50

No = 6* 50 = 300

Af1 = 10*50 = 500

Ak = 12*50 = 600
