The ratio of cherry candies to grape candies in a bag is 3:5. After your friend eats half of the grape flavored candies and only one cherry flavored candy, the ratio of cherry to grape candies is 7:6. How many candies are left in the bag?

Explanation:

The computation of the number of candies left in the bag is as follows:

Let us assume the cherry candies be c ;

And, grape candies be g

Now the ratio between them is 3:5

And, in the case when half of the candies are eaten and one cherry is also eaten so the ratio is

(c - 1) ÷ (g ÷ 2) = 7 ÷ 6

After subsitution

It would be

(3 ÷ 5g - 1) ÷ (g ÷ 2) = 7 ÷ 6

Now after solving it,

g = 60

And, the c = 35

As the candies are half so it would be 30 now

So, the number of candies together is

= 35 + 30

= 65
