Explanation:

A parallel line will have the same slope so m= -6, but it will have different points.

So we have y= -6x + b and the points are (8,9)

Substitute that in

9 = -6*-8 + b

9 = 48 + b

subtract 48 on both sides

9-48 = 48 - 48 + b

-39 = b

so equation is

y = -6x -39
