The perimeter of a rectangle is 40 inches. If the length of the rectangle is 15 inches, which equation could be used to find the width, x?

OA. x + 2(15) = 40
OB. 15(x + 2) = 40
O.Cx+ 15 = 40

A N S W E R :

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 40 inches
  • Length of rectangle = 15 inches

Let the required Breadth of rectangle be 'x' inches

Perimeter of rectangle is calculated by the given below formula :

  • Perimeter = 2(Length + Breadth)

Now, substitute the given values in above formula :

→ 40 = 2(15 + x)

Hence,the option (d) 2(x + 15) = 40 is the correct answer.
