A truck can be rented from Company A for $130 a day plus $0.20 per mile. Company B charges $50 a day plus $0.30 per mile to rent the same truck. Find the number of miles in a day at which the rental costs for Company A and Company B are the same.

Answer:

800 miles

Explanation

Step one

A truck can be rented from

Company A for $130 a day plus $0.20 per mile

Let the number of miles be x

And the total charges be y

y=130+0.2x—-------1

Company B charges $50 a day plus $0.30 per mile

y=50+0.3x--------2

Equate 1 and 2

130+0.2x=50+0.3x

130-50=0.3x-02x

80=0.1x

x=80/0.1

x=800 Miles
