x=\frac{-(9)+-\sqrt{(9)^(2)-4(1)(8) } }{2(1)}=(-9+-√(49 ) )/(2)=(-9+-7 )/(2)

We have two different solutions for x where
x=(-9-7 )/(2) and
x=(-9+7 )/(2)

So, x =
-16/2=-8 and
x=-2/2=-1
