Farhan has three pieces of rope with lengths of 140 cm, 168 cm and 210 cm. he wishes to cut all the three pieces of ropes into smaller pieces of equal length such that there is no leftover rope. How many smaller pieces of rope can he get altogether?

Here, we want to know the number of smaller pieces he can get

firstly, we need to know the number which is lowest and is a factor of the three

That number is 7

It is a factor of 140 , 168 and 210

for 140, if each length is 7 cm, we can get 140/7 = 20 pieces

From 168, he can get 168/7 = 24 pieces

From 210, he can get 210/7 = 30 pieces

So, the total number of pieces obtainable will be;

30 + 24 + 20 = 74 pieces
