The width of a fenced yard is 6 yards less than the length. And the perimeter is less than it equal to 72 yards. Write the inequality (simplified) that u would use to solve for the dimensions of the fence.

Length = 21 yards

Width = 15 yards

Explanation:

Let

Length = x

Width = x - 6

Perimeter ≤ 71 yards

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 (length + width)

72 ≤ 2(x + x-6)

72 ≤ 2 (2x - 6)

72 ≤ 4x - 12

72 + 12 ≤ 4x

84 ≤ 4x

x ≤ 84/4

x ≤ 21

Length = x = 21 yards

Width = x - 6

= 21 - 6

= 15 yards
