Area of the figure

= (area of rectangle) + (area of triangle)

= (8 × 10) + (½ × 4 × 8)

= 80 + 16

= 96

Area = 96ft²

Quarts of paint needed

= 96/22

= 48/11

= 4.36

Mr. Chen will have to buy 5 quarts of paint.

Part A: The area of the wall, calculated by adding the rectangle and triangle areas, is 96 square feet. Part B: Mr. Chen needs to buy 5 whole quarts of paint, with each quart covering 22 square feet.

Part A: The area of the wall is calculated by adding the area of the rectangle (length = 8 ft, breadth = 10 ft) and the area of the triangle (height = 8 ft, base = 4 ft).

Area} = Area of rectangle + Area of triangle

Area} = (8
* 10) +
\left((1)/(2) * 8 * 4\right)

Area} = 80 + 16

Area = 96 square feet

Part B: If one quart of paint covers 22 square feet, Mr. Chen will need to buy
\((96)/(22)\) quarts. Rounding up, he will need to buy 5 whole quarts.
