√(x+1) - 2

Explanation:

Use the free online app DESMOS. Either enter the equation, or make a table of individual points and plot them as ordered pairs.

GRAPH: See attached image

PLOT: Calculate a few points, mark them on the graph and then connect the dots. I selected a few values of x and calculated y from the equation. Each calculation provides a (x,y) ordered pair which can be marked on the graph and the dots are then connected. Note that x values less than -1 result in a value of y that includes i, an imaginary number. So the graph ends abruptly at that point.
