a rectangle is 6 times as long as it is wide. the perimeter is 140 cm. find the area of the rectangle. round to the nearest tenth if necessary.

Step 2: Perimeter means that you add up all the 4 sides of the rectangle.


P = 140 = w + w + 6w + 6w = 14w


P = 140, 14w

Step 3: Divide both sides 14 to get the single w variable.


(140)/(14) = (14w)/(14)

Step 4: Simplify.

Step 5: Flip sides.
