1) A complex network of cells, tissues, organs, and the substances they make that helps the body fight infections and other diseases.
2) A type of immune cell that can surround and kill microorganisms, ingest foreign material, and remove dead cells.
3)These cells are responsible for antibody production, direct cell-mediated killing of virus-infected and tumor cells, and regulation of the immune response.
4) An antigen
5) When a person is first exposed to the flu virus, the immune system makes antibodies for this receptor.

Answer:

1.The immune system is a complex network of cells and proteins that defends the body against infection. The immune system keeps a record of every germ (microbe) it has ever defeated so it can recognize and destroy the microbe quickly if it enters the body again.

2. Phagocytes are cells that protect the body by ingesting harmful foreign particles, bacteria, and dead or dying cells. Their name comes from the Greek phagein, "to eat" or "devour", and "-cyte", the suffix in biology denoting "cell", from the Greek kutos, "hollow vessel".

3. Lymphocytes are primarily involved in the body's immune response mechanism. This involves complex phenomena which end in the development of humoral and cellular immunity. Humoral immunity involves the production of antibodies (immunoglobulins), and is brought about by lymphocytes, which are called B-cells.

4. Antigens are substances (usually proteins) on the surface of cells, viruses, fungi, or bacteria. Nonliving substances such as toxins, chemicals, drugs, and foreign particles (such as a splinter) can also be antigens.

5.Flu viruses continually change over time. This constant changing enables the virus to evade the immune system, so that people are susceptible to the flu throughout life.

Hope this helped! ^^
