Can you imagine a time when you had to leave your house to play a video game? Before home gaming was invented, kids had to go to arcades to pay to play video games with their friends. That all changed in the 1970s when people brought home Atari. At first there were just a few games for the Atari system, so it was still fun to go play a variety of games at the arcade. The next home gaming system to arrive was Nintendo. In the 1980s, people started to leave the arcades behind to play games like "The Legend of Zelda" and "Super Mario Brothers." People thought these eight-bit games were all they needed until 16-bit games emerged. As the years went on, the games became more advanced. Later, in the 2000s there were games that looked almost like movies and gaming systems that people can control the actions with their real-life actions. Now the gaming industry continues to advance. Currently, it is on its eighth generation with advanced systems such as Play Station 4 and Wii U. Who knows what the future will bring?
