Find the solution to the system of equations 2x + y = 3 and x - y = 3.

O (-2,1)
O (2,-1)

ans (2,-1)

2(2)+(-1)=3
4+(-1)=3
3=3
and
2-(-1)=3
2+1=3
3=3

Answer:

(2, - 1 )

Explanation:

2x + y = 3 → (1)

x - y = 3 → (2)

adding the 2 equations term by term will eliminate y

3x + 0 = 6

3x = 6 ( divide both sides by 3 )

x = 2

substitute x = 2 into either of the 2 equations and solve for y

substituting into (1)

2(2) + y = 3

4 + y = 3 ( subtract 4 from both sides )

y = - 1

solution is (2, - 1 )
