Answer:

Rope = 2 meters (nearest meter)

Explanation:

p + b = 311.25 Eq. 1

p = 4b Eq. 2

p = length of the rope.

b = length of the ribbon.

replacing Eq. 2 in the Eq, 1:

(4b) + b = 311.25

5b = 311.25

b = 311.25/5

b = 62.25

from the Eq. 2

p = 4b

p =4*62.25

p = 249 cm

Check:

from the Eq. 1

p + b = 311.25

249 + 62.25 = 311.25

Answer:

1 metre = 100 cm

249 cm = 249 / 100 = 2.49 m

the nearest metre is:

2 meters
